Waterproof Laminate: is it too good to be true?
If you've been shopping for flooring at all, by now you've come across a lot of options and are probably starting to feel very overwhelmed.
There are A LOT of things to consider and think about.
If you haven't read our 6 Questions to Ask When Floor Shopping, do that first!
There are also some articles about the differences between Laminate and LVP, and what to look for, so we won't talk about that today.
Let's talk about waterproof laminate!
First of all, waterproof laminate is a thing, but the term "waterproof" is misleading. It's really "water-resistant" laminate.
While traditional laminate is rated to withstand water for about 30 minutes, "waterproof" laminate is rated to withstand water for 72 hours. You read that right, 72 HOURS, not 30 MINUTES.
So, while not 100% waterproof, like LVP is, water-resistant laminate is pretty awesome.
Why should you consider it? Here are some questions to ask yourself:
Do you like the look or feel of hardwoods but want the easy maintenance of something waterproof?
Does the sound of LVP or vinyl floors or even tile drive you nuts?
Is having a thicker board or material more important to you?
These are just some characteristics that set laminate a part from other flooring.
We have some great laminate options, and also some awesome Water-Resistant Laminate in two gorgeous colors.
And, BONUS, they are in Long-Wide planks, so they look absolutely amazing!
